Hello,
I have a 2003 Ford Ranger XL 2WD (2.3L 4-cyl. 5-speed Manual with a 6.0 ft. Bed). "everything but the radio and undercover bed topper is stock"
I live in Western Washington and I bought my Ranger to be what trucks were always meant to be (what ever was needed). Whether it's handling business around the house, taking me to and from work in Seattle, or hauling the toys out to the sand box...the plan, is to make a few functional upgrades/modifications while preserving that awesome mpg (24.5-27.2)
I found this forum, while trying to answer a couple questions; so far, the help has been great, however; when your new, the answers you receive, just lead to more questions.
My planned upgrades/modifications are as follows:
1. Add a bolt on super springs kit to help improve and stabilize payloads and towing capacity. (expectations are that this will allow me to load or hall up to 2000lbs, realistic?)
2. Replace my stock 225/70 R15 street treads with 235/75 R15 Firestone Destination A/Ts. (the expectations are that I will get: A. a slightly taller ride. B. 275lbs of additional carrying capacity per tire. C. a tire tread that can handle rain, snow and dirt/mud with ease; realistic?) I have seen another Ranger XL on here with 235s, however there is a reference to a required leveling kit (1-2" spindle lift) Looking at pictures of my wheel wells, I'm not sure why, however, I'm sure there is a simple reason since I can not find that tire size online matched up to my truck.
3. A Draw tight trailer receiver
4. A cargo rack mounted to the top of my bed topper so I can load up a couple sheets of plywood or the bikes for a ride in the woods.
4. Fog Lamps in the bumper to better see where I'm going. (Looking at different pictures on line, it kinda looks like I need to replace the bumper...can I use my existing bumper and just cut out the existing notches where fog lamps would go?)
This is what my ranger looks like now:

Well, thanks in advance for everyone's ideas and guidance.
