94 ford ranger xlt 4x2 build questions
ok, im building up my first ranger and im looking at a realy boss build, i am getting a 4.6l mod dohc motor from a 96 Lincoln viii,
looking to custom build the entire rear susp and have rear steering, (looking to use the rear driveline out of the older cougars that had cv axles bc i want to add rear steering, the big thing is finding a rear knuckles that will have the holes in the center for the cv axles to fit in,, any ideas)
am going to make a rack to mount the rear drive line on
am more than likely use the servo unit from the honda prelude due to the cheap cost and the parts are easy to find
the trimec 6speed found in the cobras
drop it 3/4 front to rear
build the 4.6l to 700 hp and great tq to go along with it
supercharger
fuel system from a cobra
strip excess weight but have the interior looking clean with acoustics
get as close to 50/50 weight as possible for a truck by using stripped weight and adding it to the rear
thats all ive thought of so far besides the small things that go along with the engine build,, i also would like to know if there are issues with the 4.6l when build up so i can correct them befor droping in the plant. ive heard of some in the revision so thats y im opting for the older 4.6 out of the lincon. also any ideas on the rear steering bc this is whats going to make my truck diff from everyone elses.. mines going to be the first that i know of,, i want the truck to be a great road course truck, i want it street legal and want to stay away from spray, a great super charger recomendation that realy adds to the tq will be thanks greatly, all ideas please post for anything that would be a idea that you would like to see on a ranger will be thanked,, as for the rear knuckles im opting for the skyline r34 knuckles. i dont care about mounting issues bc i already know that im going to have alot of fab work to do, thanks in advanced

Re: 94 ford ranger xlt 4x2 build questions
thanks for the welcome, so what do u think about the idea,, i had a prelude and loved the rear steering, that is the big thing about this build,, im just not sure how im going to go it, what im thinking is take the rear steering knuckles from the r34 skyline,,, or i could use the whole set up with the servo and pinion kuckles,, i dont realy have a choice on the knuckles,, but my problem would be finding cv axles that will work on this. ill haft to mesure and mesure some more, but ill find one im sure,, even if i haft to mod the frame..

Your probly going to have to mod the frame.. And I don't think a rear wheel steer ranger has ever been attempted..

Re: 94 ford ranger xlt 4x2 build questions
u can always build a rear straight axle with strearing nuckels on them. i have seen it done for off road buggys. if u build it right it would handel all the power u can throw at it.

Re: 94 ford ranger xlt 4x2 build questions
thanks for the welcome.. and yea i know, ive never heard of someone attempting a rear steer ranger,, dont steal my idea tho,, its going to take me awhile to build it but i found the rear steer im going to ure,, the hicas off of a 300xz,, ive found the parts but their in the mid range of price,, now im going to haft to build a rear sub frame.. so i caint go with a 4 link,, thinking of modifying an entire 300zx rear subframe if i can find one that has rear steering,, from what ive heard its hard to find
