Default Just got a '97 Ranger

42K !! It's very clean, nice floor mats, came with the bed cover. Just $1500. The tires and battery are original, so I'm getting new right away. If nothing much goes wrong with it, it'll have been a great deal! The first thing I'm going to do with it is move from Maine to Iowa towing a trailer. Seems like it runs and drives solid enough to handle it (won't be a real big one) Anyway, I don't know that much about small pickups, never having had one. So I thought I'd come here to find some knowledgeable Ranger fans....

I have the specs up now. It is a 4. The book says it can tow 2300 lbs. My weight estimate for the move is U-Haul (5x8, 900 lb) + load in U-Haul (750 lb) + load in bed (250 lb) comes in at 1900 lbs. total. The hardest driving will be in western Mass. through Albany, maybe Utica, after which we're pretty much finished with big hills. If we take it slow, we should be fine.

Man, you must pack light. I take more than 250lbs camping.

Default Weight estimate

In the bed I'm figuring about 5 boxes, a couple of tables (disassembled, bulky but not heavy), some other light flatter items, plus our luggage. The trailer will have 750 lbs. Household items like chairs, lamps, and kitchen items aren't that dense.
