Pensacola Ranger
Hello, My name is David Elzbeck. PROUD owner of a 2001 XLT 4X4 Off Road edition stepside Ranger. It is the four door model, mild lift kit, with the 3.0 V6 motor. I have made no mods to it yet. I like it as is! I bought it a couple of years ago from a retiring local deputy who happen to pull a 33' ft. trailer with it. It had 115,000+ miles on it then and I now have 125,000+. I recently had some bucking, low engine output and unable to get more than 3,000 Rpm's from it. Oh and that annoying bird chirping at the back of the engine. Well researching the cause led me to this group where many have had the same thing and I was able to gather enough intel to purchase a (Motorcraft Camshaft synchronizer & sensor) from Ford and repair it myself. Wow! What a difference in performance... Also took up some slack in the throttle cable. My right foot seemed to have its own memory of where the pedal used to be... But if I ain't careful, this thing will speed away from me now. I want to thank all for participating and sharing information as you have. Without this group I would have turned it over to Ford and made a costly mistake.
