Default my 2000 ford ranger

hey everyone im 20 years old and i have a 2000 ford ranger 2 wheel XLT
and one thing that i have not been able to figure out is that when ever I try to accelerate over 100mph my engine automatically decelerates below 100mph even though my foot is all the way down on the gas peddle. why is this and is there anything i can do to stop this from happening?

Welcome to FRF!

Rangers have a built in "speed limiter" which I'm pretty sure is what you are running into. I do not know if there is a way around that. I personally would not want to be going much faster than that in a Ranger. Lol! But hopefully someone can chime in and answer that question for you! Hope that helps a bit!

Welcome to FRF

only way around the speed limiter and rev limiter is buying a tuner like a SCT or superchips tuner

welcome to FRF, Matt!
why would you want to drive over 100 mph anyway?
thats asking for trouble.
You have a truck, not a sports car.

Suggestion would be to not go so fast. Especially if you want to lift the truck. These things have bad roll over risks as it is. Lifting it makes it worse. Check the threads though n see what other people have done. There are hundreds of lift, tire, wheel options along with things youll need to consider like re-gearing depending on size n such. Shop around n see what fits your application best. There's no one answer.

And welcome.

Hey Matt, welcome to the forum! x2 on the limiter, also on the tuner to fix, but seriously though make sure your tires are rated for that first...
