Default New ranger owner from MN

Hey everyone, I just bought a 1994 ranger about a week and a half ago. It runs real nice, with decient miles, 113.800. It's a 5 speed, that shifts pretty dicent, but does slip just slightly in 3rd gear if I jump on it. It normal speed, it will not slip. The read wheel cylinder was bad, so I replaced that along with a brake line, and new shoes, turned the drums, and new hardware. I gotta say it is nice too have brakes. It does make a clanking sound sometimes at slow speeds from the rear. I'll have to figure that out. All, and all a nice truck......

Check the U joints for the clanking. The clutch is getting wore out if it's slipping. Go easy on the GO pedal if you want the clutch to last a while longer.

Welcome to the forum.

Yeah, I'm hoping to get a year or more on the clutch, I've been pretty easy on it, it has only done that a one or two times.
I'll check the u-joint... how big of a deal is that, something that might need to be replaced right away if worn? Or can I make it by for a while with just a noisy truck??

Thanks! I do apriciate it.

I am interested in talking to Ford Ranger owners in Minnesota. I am reporter from the Minneapolis Star Tribune who is working on a story on the history of the Ranger, now that the plant in St. Paul is going to close. I want to find out about owners' experiences with the Ranger, how they have found it useful, etc. Please respond to my email at the Star Tribune
susan.feyder@startribune.com

Thanks,
Susan Feyder
