Default Mark Woodruff Introduction

Hello All
My name is Mark Woodruff, Im 49 years young and I really enjoy Drag Racing
I'm married, have 4 children, and I just recently retired from the Army after 24 years. My MOS was 19D, I served one tour in Iraq, and now that I;m retired from the Army, I'm going racing.

My current job is, I'm a Watch Officer for the United States Army Recruiring Command, Fort Knox, KY.

My other hobbies include working @ Autozone in Radcliff, KY, Fishing with the Gran-kids, and riding my Harley.

I have owned my Truck for 2 years, raced it maybe 10 times, due to the War an all.

My truck is a 1984 Ford Ranger, and when I bought it, it came with all the goodies: stock 302 (190HP); Nitrous Works and the works; Headman Headers; Electric fan/Water pump; C6 transmission with Hurst Shifter Package, 4000 stall; Nice Tach, all gauges, aluminum dash with toggles; Racing seats, Simpson Saftey equipment, 4pt Roll cage; Fuel Cell; 9" Rear w/ 4:57 gears.

Thus far I have managed to purchase a new crate, Ford Small Block 427ci, No Kidding. 535hp crate, this engine was debuted on Horspower TV, 28 May 11. They ported/polished the heads and it turned out a whopping 617hp, wicked motor. Currently I am getting my Headers fabricated, at Payless Muffler here in Radcliff, KY, I m getting a deal, and cannot disclose the cost. I will post pictures as progress happens. I also purchased a Victor Jr manifold, and the one on the 302 will not work, due to width. I also purchased a Mallory Distributor (I'm a Mallory Fan, dont try an change me) the oil pump shaft is 5/16 on the 427 versus 1/4 on the 302. I purchased a Holley 750 DP from JEGS which after talking to Ford Racing, I had to return and get a 950 DP. The truck also came with a HYFIRE® VI Ignition System Part No. 6851, which I still working the bugs out. This thing will control your timing on gas or NOS without turning a screw. It also has a two step system, which as I understand it, allows full throttle in the water box (step 1), and full throttle off the line. More to follow on that.

All in all, I looking forward to meeting everyone here at FRF, and special thanks to Tom for helping all of us.

V/R
Mark Woodruff
