Default New from Indiana

Figured I might as well register since I've been lurking for about a week. Been reading a bunch of different threads to get some ideas for my next truck. Right now I've got a 96 Dodge Ram CrewCab 4x4 5.9L. Haven't done much as far as customizing since most of my money goes into keeping gas in it. It has some custom rust holes in the bumper, a sagging headliner, and a constant power steering leak (replaced seals 3 times and just gave up...carry a couple bottles at all times). Truck before that was an 85 GMC K15 with a one ton suspension (rode like a dumptruck and I miss it other than the 8mpg on the highway). That truck wasn't pretty but it had a beast of a 350.

Found this place after looking around at a few different online classifieds and wanted to get some ideas and opinions and a google search brought me to a random thread. I've been wanting a new 4 door, 4x4 F150 but haven't found anything locally that wasn't over-priced. I figured to round out the trucks I've owned (an old beater Ranger was the first or second truck I drove...can't remember if it was the Ranger or my grandpa's old Dodge 4x4), I'd start looking at Rangers. Narrowed down my choices from a high mileage F250 or F350 diesel, 2004+ F150, 2004+ Ranger (although the lack of reasonably priced suspension lifts might sway me) and a Mazda3 hatchback. I think I'd miss the ability to play in the mud so if I found a reasonable Mazda3, I'd be keeping the Dodge (and I really don't want that).

Anyway, just wanted to do the whole intro thing and say I've seen some pretty sweet trucks (especially a couple of the blackouted trucks and I think I've fallen in love with the Cragar Soft 8's, had some Cragar SS (Torque Thrust) on a 79 Camaro I had).

...I wasn't aware there was an issue finding decent suspension lifts for Rangers - is there a better selection for F150s ?

There is a handful of pretty good lifts for around the same price as the Superlift for 1998-2005 Ranger 4wd (and I won't have a daily driver truck without 4wd because of the snow up here).

SpitfireEMT, I'm from up close to South Bend...it'd be quite a drive for me.
