stranger2
howdy from just north of the tijuana , mexico border gate keepers of the golden west , My ranger is my 8th ford truck and my 3rd ford ranger . its a 2004 ranger extra cab edge with automatic and 3 liter v6 I gotta tell you i'm a dedicated ford owner but this ranger has kind of let me down . . first off at approx 90,000 miles engine light came on. after getting a second opinion i had to get a valve job . my mechanic said that my 2004 was the 3rd 3 liter ranger that he has had to do a valve job on . all 3 had less then 100,000 miles. since i have owned at least 20 different ford autos and trucks i have never had to do a valve job on any of them under average 150000 to 200000 miles , well i bit the bullet and had it done . but if this is an example of what ford is producing shame on ford , now at 135000 mi engine light on again this was a multi code replaced max air flow sensor and new plug wires got rid of all but one code . the other code is a lean mixture . shows lean mixture at 5300 rpm . i have done most of the test and replacement they suggest and no luck so far. any suggestions (i hope)
and has anyone else had to have a valve job with less then 90,000 mi.
I've always bragged on rangers that they were tuff as a bulldozer. . can someone help i really don't want to get a new truck but i need reliability. i took the name stranger because the st in front of ranger stood for super truck " stranger2 "

Ps i will note that i drive my vehicles hard but i also take care of them and i believe there is a big difference in driving hard and abusing. But please a valve job at under 90.000 maybe a chevy or a dodge but not a ford
