Default First Truck: First Year Ranger

I've been on here for 2mo now looking around and figured I'd actually introduce myself and my truck. Great resource here and quick paced responses. Glad I found a nice Ranger crowd for help wrenching!

I'm a Jeep guy, but found myself in need of a small truck for hauling parts (I work part time as a mechanic). My father had a Ranger when I was younger so that's what I ended up going for. I found a 1983 with 180,000mi and 3.5 pistons for $700, BUT it started and ran when it was -38* and drove me the 100mi home to start the tear down. It even has a dual tanks! (handy when your 50mi from pavement)

Started with 4 new pistons, rings, rod and main bearings, clutch, starter and solnd, glass mat battery, all new wiring, belts, hoses, vacuum lines, filters, magnaflow cat, Thrush glasspack, rebuilt Carter YFA, all gauge senders and sensors, all ignition components, Monroe shocks, F/R sway bars, welded rear diff., all lenses/lights, Homebrew gril guard, rattle can flat black paint, a head unit and 2 5.25's, 2 6x9's, Honda Prelude seats, Explorer center console, random overhead light, homebrew bedside spare mount.
And still less than $2000 total cost!
It BADLY needed tires so I threw on some 15x8 black steelies with the tires off my Volvo (195/60R15 Bridgestone RE960AS pole position)

Looking for some 215/75R15 BFG AT/KO's for it cheap.
Now just need rotors/pads/drums/shoes/booster and it'll be 'done'.

It runs and drives great, can take mountain passes at the posted speed limit through every turn easily.

I look forward to looking around more here and helping out where I can.

Saul

Thanks all!

Yea it was in suprisingly good shape, looks to possibly be an old army truck:
Under the hood and on the drivers door sill theres a 6-digit code like an old plate # from something originally. No other info though from the previous owner (who had it from '99 til now).

Yes those are Honda Prelude seats (can't verify if a del-sol or anything else, I didn't pull 'em I just installed 'em).

the "OY" on the front is officially Yiddish (I'm Jewish). And is what all my friends say when they see this thing coming: I've always owner hugely lifted Jeeps so this is a new venture for me. It's like owning a car almost, weird, lol.
