Default 98 Ranger 4x4

So, I just purchased my 98 ranger 4x4. The guy that had it before put in a 60,000 mile 4.0 engine in it. Had the leading transmission shop rebuild the transmission. Does this sound like a headache ranger or a good thing that this was done? I'm not afraid to admit, i'm ignorant when it comes to mechanical prowess, but I want to learn.

sounds like a good thing. my buddie's '98 mazda had the engine & trans rebuilt on it before he got it, and it's setting at 230,000+ miles with no big issues.
