Default Noob. Looking for help.

Hey guys. I just signed up here on FRF. I'm about to turn 16, and I'm lookin at buying a ranger. . I live in Austin, Texas and I've been checking out the forums for a couple weeks now. I'm torn between a VW Jetta (mkiv) or a ranger. The only thing is, my budget is around $4,500 Just looking for some input, if it's a good first truck/reliable. Please respond with any comments.

Thanks yall

welcome and my ranger is the first truck that i have owned. i have had other cars in the past and i have to say i have done less work on my ranger than i had on the other cars. the only thing that i have had to do to my ranger other than the mods that i have done has been normal wear and tear. tune ups brakes. i did the ball joints about a month or so after i got it in 2008 and it still had the factory ones in it. tires. e-brake cables. and thats about it.

Thank you. that's good to hear. I'm pretty anxious, but it's hard to find a decent ranger for $4500 around here.

Welcome to FRF!

The Ranger I have now is also my first and I have to say, in the short time I've had it, am I highly impressed and having a blast! I could kick my self for not getting one sooner! It's a perfect fit for me and is amazingly comfortable and fun to drive.

I was also impressed when I went to look at it to buy it. One of the first things I always do when looking at used vehicles is check for oil on the engine and underneath. Not a drop anywhere! I've never bought a used car that didn't have at least a tiny oil leak, but not this Ranger.

From everything I've read on this site they are long lasting, reliable vehicles if you just take care of them. I believe this will be a life long friend!

I might look small and yes, I'm a chick, but I shoot, throw, hit, and hunt. I highly suggest you don't mess with my truck!

Thank you. That's why I'm leaning more towards the ranger. How are the back seats in the ext cab? I've heard so many different things.
