...I have visited this site a time or 2 and thought I should sign on. I was considering purchasing a new full size truck, even had a Dodge Ram Big Horn for a weekend, but $40K+ and $400-500 a month payments convinced me that my Ranger FX4 LV II was still all the truck I need.
I live in Colorado Springs, like to hunt, fish, camp and I have a small sailboat I pull around. My Ranger has 134,000 miles (for 3+ years, I commutted 100 miles a day - don't do that as much anymore as I ride share), gets serviced every 4-5K and also receives at least 2 coats of carnuba (sp?) was a year (bright red paint). No major damage (hit a deer last year, broke the side mirror and taillight), but other than that, its in great shape for the miles.
Since I'm not going for a new ride, I'd like to put some money into this one. I've run BFG KO's on the stock Alcoa's since I've owned it...got over 55K on each of the first 2 sets and am on track for that number on the current rubber. However, I'd like a change in tire and perhaps wheels. I've been looking at the new Goodyrear Duratrac as an option, but not sure how they'd look on the stock Alcoa's, so maybe a wheel change. I can't extend the width too much as some of the 2 tracks I travel in the high country are pretty narrow.
So...given the above infomation, anyone got ideas on what I should consider for tires and wheels?
