Default New to the Forum! Need help with noise...

Hey guys! I'm new here, name's John. I have a 2005 Edge Reg Cab Manual 2wd Blue. I bought it new back in 2005 so I am the original owner. I just moved up to Charlotte, NC a few months ago for work. I am used to forums because I also ride a Yamaha R6 and I'm on a couple bike forums as well. My main reason for joining this forum is to get some answers.

I have noticed this noise coming from what seems to be the tranny area. It sounds like metal rubbing on metal. It changes pitch and volume depending on what gear I'm in and the application of the clutch has no effect on it. Any ideas? I know a lot more about bikes than trucks and manual transmissions unfortunately...

I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say.

welcome to frf. and i have the same problem you are having. mine makes that noise in 2nd and 4th. mine has done it for a year now. i think ive narrowed it down to pressure plate. it may need replacing.

That sounds like a pretty likely suspect. Mine primarily does it in 2nd, 4th, and 5th. However, you can hear it in all gears.
