My first pickup
A couple weeks ago I got into my '99 Kia Sportage to drive to work and as I pulled away from the house it died, again, for the final time. That was a Monday, by Thursday afternoon it was decided I needed something right away. That night while searching Craigs List for something under $2000 my partner clicked refresh and an ad for a '98 Ford Ranger had JUST been posted. 2 hours later, and us $1400 dollars poorer, it was parked in our driveway.
So far everything is cool. The Ranger is an XLT, with the funky fold down seats, power windows, mirrors, and locks, and a tape deck.
Issues? It had the airbag code 27 that my partner fixed my replacing the dead bulb in the passenger airbag lock with an led. The jack and tools to lower the spair tire are missing, and the arm rest is broken. Those are hopefully going to be fixed by a trip to the junkyard, sooner rather then later. We also have to figure out it it has the keyless entry, we were only given a copy of the key on purchase. And of course one of the door sensors for the overhead light isn't working and thus far the easiest fix has been to take the bulbs out
Do I like it? Oh Yeah! The heater works like crazy, I'm usually having to turn it down. I also own an old motorcycle and having a pickup made it far easier to take it to winter storage.
