Hi, Ranger Newbie here.
I joined to pull from the experience of others with Ranger knowledge beyond the normal mechanical scope. I have worked on/ built cars for the better part of 15 years, incl. drag racing, custom fab. perf. parts, I have a little project that is sub 2klbs, @ 648 rwhp. (rear engine) I just bought this Ranger as a little 4x4 for my company of F150's. It has 114,000 miles not one leak. It was a one owner executive gentleman's vehicle he used for a commuter between his various properties. It had a new transmission installed 3kmls. before I bought it. I just installed all new Monroe Reflex's, all new EBC brakes, new motor/trans mounts, upgraded wires and plugs, DynoMax Super Catback, and I custom fabbed a ram air setup for it. I'll be spec'ing it this weekend for results. My F150's went from 260 miles per tank to roughly 400. I hope to see those kind of results out of the Ranger(fingers crossed). Oh I'll be TS'ing the SRS system as it is throwing code 46 or 47(drivers). I have used just about every additive on the market and tested all of them. I was trained on the classic premace that your engine will tell you what is wrong with it, I can usually diagnose problems by hearing it run, and a test drive I can tell you just about everything wrong with your vehicle. But I do not have experience with 4x4 drivetrains. Mine is puzzling me currently as I feel a slight bump then another slight bump as I accelerate slowly to moderately from a stop. I originally thought it to be the motor mounts and while they helped reduce the bumps they are still there. I am wondering if it is just normal play in the driveshaft/ rear-end. We'll see.
