Re: Hello from Ontario
Thanks for all your "Welcomes".
I told you that my 2003 Ranger FX4 was my favourite truck. It had 172,000 km. (107,500 mi.) on it and it was running like a top. I was coming home from Ottawa a couple of weeks ago and at 8:30 pm, in total darkness on Hwy. 401, I hit a full size buck at 110 km./hr. (69 mi./hr.). I didn't even have a chance to touch my brakes. My wife was with me and both air bags deployed and it seemed like the buck was welded to the front of my Ranger for 2 or 3 seconds before it fell off to the side of the highway. We were both OK, thank goodness; but my Ranger was not. The whole front end was missing and it looked like the front part of the frame was bent upwards. A week later, the insurance adjuster wrote the vehicle off.
I was looking to get a 2008 Ranger FX4 with low mileage, but I got a little more than I was expecting from the insurance company and with all the Ford rebates ($6,000) on a new 2011 Ranger FX4, I decided to buy new. So now I am the owner of a new "Vista Blue" Ranger FX4. It now has 200 km. A couple of things that I have noticed over the 2003 is that it seems "tighter" and more refined. I also think the 2003 rode higher than this 2011 model.
With winter approaching, I am looking forward to slipping it into 4 wheel drive. It's a great truck in the snow. Also, I like the new FX4 five "Y" spoke rims and Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires, but I miss my old "deep dish" aluminum rims.
2011 Ranger Sport 4x4 Supercab, FX4 "Off-Road" Package, "Vista Blue" Metallic, Spray Box Liner, Trifecta "Soft" Tonneau Cover, 16" Y-Spoke Cast Aluminum Rims, P255/70Rx16 Wrangler RT/S Tires.....Standard Stuff
