Default Very close to my first Ranger

I thought I would introduce myself. I am roughly a week away from my first Ranger. I've always been a Ford guy, and this will be the first Ford truck I've bought myself. When I do the deal, it will either be an '07 Fx4 manual, or an '03 Edge 4x4 4.0 manual. They are in two different cities, and whichever one is still available when I finalize the sale on my old truck, will be the one I get. Basically I'm hoping to get the FX4 though.

The FX4 has 46k miles, and the Edge has 54k. I plan to get some sort of extended warranty anyway, but thought I would ask of any issues I should be on the lookout for. Some of my friends kinda look at me weird when they hear what I'm getting. I guess because I'm 6'2, 250 and I've been driving a 4x4 Cummins Ram for the past two years.

I've been a mechanic for 6 years, and am currently in the HVAC/R field. I'm from Jacksonville, FL. I also own a '93 Taurus SHO, which I love. Good to be here

Welcome to FRF! I say pick the vehicle you are most comfortable in, I know the interiors are going to be roughly the same, but both are good choices. Hope you're getting a good price.

According to edmunds, what they are asking for the FX4 is a pretty damn good deal. It's in Colorado. And the Edge is priced alittle above edmunds, and that one's in Miami. They want $16,197 for the FX4, and $12,995 for the Edge.

Welcome to the forums Rod. Yeah, the Edge sounds overpriced and I doubt the FX4 will sell here in the next little while. I just sold a car and bought my Ranger (a 2003 FX4) and the market isn't that great right now. When I was looking at trucks most are or should be a thousand or so under KBB to sell. During the time I was looking out of all the trucks I looked at only one possibly sold, out of about ten or so, and that was a 2002 Off Road (basically a FX4) with only 67k miles and in perfect condition inside and out for $9k.

KBB is always overpriced, I work at a car dealership lol. Use blackbook or NADA.com. I prefer NADA because that's also what most banks use when they look at giving out loans and such.

Ah, I forgot, they are both 4D extended cabs. I really like the interior in the FX4-all black, with red centers in the seats. Here it is as a matter of fact:

Both trucks are from CarMax.

And the Edge:

I like them both, always been a fan of vista blue but i'd probably go with the fx4 to be honest. You should go to nada.com and check out what their prices say to the prices of the trucks you are looking at.
