Post New Guy, please be patient!

Hello, name is Jim, I live in the central Ohio area and currently own a 2002 Ford Ranger Super Cab 4x4 with the "EDGE" package. It has the 3.0L V6 with an automatic transmission. I purchased the vehicle new in Nov. 2001 and the vehicle currently has 259,XXX miles on it. It is my second Ranger that I have owned, my previous one was a 1996 2 wheel drive regular cab short bed with the 4 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual shift transmission that I let go when it had 178,XXX miles on it. It had no A/C and no power steering, a very simple basic vehicle. I sold it to a friend and to my knowledge he still has it in service to tow his jet ski. My Girlfriend also owns a Ranger, hers is a 2003 regular cab, short bed, manual shift and it currently has 113,XXX miles on it. Things that have needed replaced on mine have been; Throttle Position Sensor at 50,809 miles, front right wheel hub assembly with bearing at 129,187 miles, A/C compressor at 180,190 miles, and the belt tensioner at 189,352miles. That's it, no transmission work other than fluid and filter swaps, currently using Amsoil full syn. ATF. Also full synthetic in both axles and the transfer case. No front end work, all ball joints and steering linkage are all original. It currently is on its third set of tires, second battery, second drive belt. Brakes front and rear, currently on their third set. In the engine crank case I use 5 quarts Motor Craft 5W-20 Synthetic blend and the Motor Craft FL400S oil filter, right off of the shelf at Wally World. I'm now joining the forum because I plan on doing the next front bearing swap myself and the Haynes manual is very vague, and I will be needing the expertise of the members to avoid the dealership. Thanks in advance. Regards, Jim.
