My conversion is actually part of a way bigger project and I have all the parts from the donor 5.0 so I don't know what it would cost. As far as what you'll need, it's a laundry list including the pedals, console, column cover, may need a shifter, and an ecm too unless you've got a carb engine. It's a pretty huge project.

Planned mods: 5.0 swap (got the donor already, it's nardly), 4/5 suspension drop(DONE), traction bars, 8.8swap, 3.55's w/LS . Auto to Manual conversion. Lots more in the works.

I am 17 years old and bought my first car in January. I decided on a White w/grey int. 1996 XLT, 3.0L Automatic which i bought from a family friend. It had about 143,000 mi and He lowered it and equipped it with American Racing Torq Thrust D vintage wheels which were in poor shape. After deciding to re-do the wheels I got into doing other cosmetic work. I painted the grille, painted the exhaust for an update, cut and polished the paint, some minor body work, and installed an Alpine sound system. After some good labor I fondly nicknamed her "Shelby." I drive her every day to school and get a few head turns from guys who know cars and who like the vintage look I was going for. I grew up with classic and modern cars and I am looking for some tips and tricks to help me out down the line. I still want to:

Replace the factory pinstripe with an Identical replacement

Install Hella 500FF's behind an updated grille

Swap the gauges with some from an 03 SportTrac

Get a more muscle sounding exhaust

is there any way to override the automatic idle control?

Get new HID kit and clear corners

Swap seats with a 2003ish Ranger

Cold Air intake benefits?

Easy Horsepower Increases?

Automatic Column to Floor stick conversion...worth it??

If you have any tips, advice or suggestions this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Ty
I havent seen this before on the newer trucks do you have a write up or a page that I can look at? Seems theonly thing I can find is for the older stuff, and welcome to FRF.

Unfortunately I have had difficulty finding information on this too. It was just an idea for me really, I am thinking this is not an option for me. If you need info search around on here and other forums i guess...

Flowmaster 40 or super 44 sound pretty good.
