Default Proud new owner of a ranger saying hi

Hi everyone,

My name's David and I just bought a 1986 ranger 2.0L (I think, 2.0 or 2.3 but pretty certain it's 2.0) It's a bit of a beater but it looks badass and has a new clutch and fuel pump and it's in good running condition. I pick it up on Wed.

I'm kinda sad to see my ford tempo go but I'm more excited to start working on my "new" truck.

So I'll probably be posting here with dozens of seemingly urgent questions about my whip and how to keep it on the road.

Any suggestions for things I should do when I get it? I was thinking about doing an oil change, and transmission fluid change. I'm kinda paranoid about my transmission going on it because I will deal with any problem but a transmission problem because that's just too expensive.

anyway, sorry about the long rant I'm just super excited to get my truck!

cheers!

Id do an oil change first just to be safe, wont hurt. Then take a look at your spark plugs and wires to see what kind of condition they're in, if need be replace them.
Just do an overall inspection of your new truck, pop the hood see if any fluid is leaking or any belts are worn and need replacing along with gaskets etc.
If you have the money (and if you trust shops) you can take it to one and have them do a complete tune up and flush for you to ease your mind a bit.

Welcome to the forum, great group of guys here ready and willing to help ya out

Good Luck!

Welcome.
Whenever I get a new toy, it's a routine for me to go through and change all the fluids, filter, plugs, wires and hoses. It eliminates alot of headaches down the road. Have fun with the new ride!
