Default Me and my new old Ranger sez hi...

Hey all!

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now since my acquisition of a 1996 Ford Ranger XLT. Unfortunately it's 2wd, but being a freebie and all I can't complain too much. I want to get rid of the running boards and replace them with the tubular style, and get some more aggressive wheels/tires. It will probably need a lift since even the stock tires rub during a tight turn. If I get really ambitious I may get rid of the pin stripe and get rid of the chrome bumper for something a little more off-roadish.

After all of that, I'll look into performance upgrades since it has the tiny 2.3 engine. However, they would have to be bolt on upgrades because it only has 30K miles on it and I'd hate to swap out a perfectly good low mileage engine for something that may be a bit long in the tooth.

Anyway, hello and I plan on spending quite a bit of time here.

Welcome from State College, PA! I was born in Pottstown, but don't remember anything about the place

Thanks for the welcome. prestidigitizer, what kind of fender flares do you have? I really like the rivet look or whatever it's called. Pottstown's not too bad, it could use some more/better restaurants and bars though.

Also, the low mileage is because it was my grandfather's, and since he's in his mid nineties, has hasn't driven much in the last few (15) years.

Those are the stock flares for my '09 FX4. I like 'em ok, though you don't need to get too close to see that the 'bolts/rivets' are just part of the molded plastic.
