Default My First Ranger

Hello everyone!

My name is Jim and just paid too much for a 1995 Ranger XLT 2WD.
On the maiden cruise home I was driving in stop and go traffic and the ckutch pedal started to get really hard and finally refused to disengage the clutch when the pedal was all the way at the top. I called the wife to come get me and then grabbed my '02 F-250 Crew Cab Power Stroke and trailer to go pick it up. Well, when I got back to the Ranger and got into to start the engine so I would have power steering to winch it onto the trailer, the balsted clutch WORKED!
Instead of taking chances I loaded it onto the trailer and took it to my friends Ford Garage (Ford Performance Specialists in Mableton, GA) We have gone over every thing in the clutch system and we can't find ANYTHING wrong with it! I sat in it and pumped the clutch pedal at least 150 times today and it worked perfectly every time.

Anybody ever had this happen before or might know what it is?

Thanks

Diamond Jim

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

So far I've just got a plain ol' 2WD 2.3L 5 speed but since I have owned virtually nothing but SHO's for the past fourteen years (12 of them and counting!) I can't imagine it staying stock for too long! We have already measured things out and decided a SHO V6 will fit inside the engine compartment. So I guess it's just going to be a matter of time before that happens! A couple years ago I helped by doing all of the electrical engineering and installations of putting a 5.0L Cobra V8 into a 1993 Ranger. It worked out fairly well but the owner decided to sacrifice the air conditioning rather than have a custom A/C evaporator case made. I think I can shovel the SHO V6 into this one and not have to lose anything.
The first mod I'm going to do is to fit a Ford factory CD-6 into the dash to fill the big hole that was there when I bought it. The PO really hacked up the radio bezel trying to fit God knows what into the dash so I’m going to need a replacement like Clinton mentioned. I have already determined that the CD-6 will fit into the hole I just have to sort out the wiring and figure out where to hide all the speakers.
Jim
