Default Newbie needs help

I joined this forum back in June. Did some reading and alot of guys here DEFINITELY know their shit, which is awesome. I now have a dillemma:

My truck is an '05 FX4 Level II. 4.0 SOHC, 5 speed.
Drivetrain is stock.

Suspension is stock.

I put a cold air intake and throttle body spacer on it only to remove them after reading a ton of posts in here. Went back to the stock box with the silencer removed and a K&N Filter.

HAD a SuperChips Cortex tuner, but went back to stock after some reading.
I have a true dual exhaust from front to back. 2 cats, 2 cans (Flowmaster Super 44's), 2 tails; nothing crosses together.

Where should I go from here? Im all about reliability and I dont want to tear apart the engine until it dies. Then ill port/flow the heads, cams, injectors, etc.

What should I do about a chip or a tuner? Any suggestions?
Whats this throttle cable mod people keep talking about?
Any other suggestions are welcome as well seeing as how Im all ears (and eyes) for them. Thanks for all your help!

The only thing I think I can help you with is the cable mod...Youre just taking the slack out of the cable up over the pedal inside the truck using zip-ties. I haven't done it, but a lot of dudes here have.
Ever think about putting on a body lift? They look great on these trucks and are cheap too...not counting the cost of bigger tires to fill the wheel wells

Ive have been thinking of a body lift. Not sure about that yet. Want to get a little more ass under it first, then lift it. Whats the self painted headlight mod you did?

I peeled the headlights apart and painted the non-light reflecting parts black.

Can I ask why you removed the CAI and throttle body spacer? What on here suggested that those were not good ideas? I"m curious because I was thinking of getting a CAI...

Do a search for cold air intakes. That is a well-discussed topic on here. Basically, you already have a cold air intake. The aftermarket junk just looks better thats all.

Thanks for the wlecome. Greatly appreciated. What do you guys think about a chip or tuner? Worth the extra money? I have a SuperChips Cortex tuner, but as I said, I reverted the tuning back to stock. Is there another tuner or chip that someone would suggest? And without comepletely tearing apart the suspension and lifting the truck (I work in chicago and want to keep the truck close to stock height for the garages out here), what shocks do you recommend? I have Bilsteins now, but I keep being told to switch out to Ranchos by some of my friends. Any thoughts?

Was born in "The Region" NW Indiana. Moved to cali, then nyc, then back to chicago. Lived at 2900 n clark area and near west side by lake st. And I94. Worked overseas for a bit too. Now I'm back in NWI. Something about the city not being cunducive to raising munchkins. I am about 25 minutes south of the loop. Where you at now somidscr21? Never heard of savoy. And the airbox for the truck is easy and totally worth it. CAI is useless. I found out the hard way...... wanna buy my CAI setup? Lol
