Re: New to the Ford Forum crew!
Hello, I'm Joseph Gallegos. I own a 2002 Ranger and maintain it myself. Hopefully I can post useful ideas. My first question is how to use the smiley icons?

Re: New to the Ford Forum crew!
I am new to the forum, just purchased a 97 4x4, 4.0 auto, 140 k miles, fairly clean, lots of rust on main frame underneath. plan on using it as my run-around and haul occasionally vehicle. it seems as though it tries to switch back into 4-wh every time i stop and get out, when i start up again (mainly if i use the brakes, back up & turn) it tries to switch into 4-wh. how do i fix this problem? couple of mechanics say it needs a new switching motor, but i don't want to buy one if all i need to do is take the hubs out, clean, lube, or some other process that doesn't cost so much. help!

Re: New to the Ford Forum crew!
New guy on forum. learning my way around. I've got a 2000 XLT 5 speed manual. The engine dies the first couple of times on starting. It's like it's not getting gas or the idle is not kicking in. ANyone else have or has this problem?

New to the Ford Forum crew!
Another new member here. Last Friday I bought a 2001 Ranger 4x4 Automatic 4L with 86K miles. Step-side, blue, fog lights, trailer hitch and two options for trailer plugs. The engine is amazingly clean, looks like the dealer replaced anything plastic (but it probably is just Armor All). Only complaint I have is the dealer gave me "the only key" they had. So I'm up a creek. I don't have the $70 that ACE Hardware will charge for a replacement. If I had 2 keys I would buy the blank and program it myself. I've been told when the time comes, that ACE is the best spot. The dealer or a locksmith will charge even more.
