Hello, all.

I just purchased a one-owner 1999 Ranger from a good friend of mine. I don't think I've ever been happier with a vehicle purchase.

The specifics: 1999 Ranger XLT shortbox, 2.5l OHC L4, Mazda 5-speed transmission, 128,000 actual, $1,500 purchase price, no rust. It drives and handles as though it were new. No rattles. The only thing I can detect that's short of perfect is a slight leak in the power steering rack. I can handle that.

I guess I'm gravitating to Minnesota things in my old age. Grain Belt and Summit beers, Paul Westerberg music, and Minnesota-made pickups.

My other car is an old Mazda 323 hatchback, and I like it, too. It was also a well-cared-for one-owner car from a friend. It presently needs tires and exhaust, but that ain't bad for a 1988.

- Robin

Here you go. Needed to get batteries for the old camera.

I drove it to St. Paul Sunday. 28mpg, and no known issues, other than the rudeness and impatience of some of the denizens of my truck's birthplace.

Scooby, you have a Ranger in the U.K.? That's great news. What do the locals think of your Yank truck?

Your truck looks good!

Scooby doesn't have a Yank Ranger, he has a UK Ranger....

No, not hurting for cash. He's actually pretty well-off, as he's a pathologist at the local Mayo branch. He was just a friend, giving me a great deal.

There are a LOT of Rangers in town here. Some as old as the mid-80's. That's encouraging.

Seems to be the truck of choice for the north!! I went home in Feb for leave and there was a ranger around every corner, even in NY when I went to sign for the new house!
