Default New from Tucson Az

I was told this was the place to be for info and help if you had a Ranger. We picked up a nice 86 with a rebuilt engine 2.0 I4 OHC FI that had about 800 miles on it for $1000. Went and got new tires for him was heading home after a full fillup and had a lady fall a sleep in a near head on in my lane. Almost got clear but she tagged me in the right rear wheel and back panel+bumper tip. So anyway got that put back together put about 4500 miles on him and started to get some valve chatter. Pulled the cover to find 2 lobes on #4 flat with wear on all and rockets worn bad too. Put a new cam and rockets in started him up ran like champ for about 15 min. then I started getting chatter again. Pulled the cover checked the rockers and cam they look fine digging out the feeler gages and checking the gap off the cam and rockers. Going to have to build the valve compressor tool as the one I used for the first run at this, is a knuckle buster fork type with C spacer inserts under it, going to try and build the ford type with the half moons on the end. So I can hold the spring closed while I measure the gap without slippage. Any and all input welcomed plans for the tool very welcome copy of paper towel drawing work etc welcomed I mean I can see the tool to a point in the chilton but specs would help. Oh and any input on how to get to the #4 valves without dropping the engine to get clear of the firewall would be cool also.

Thanks to all Ken
