Finally getting around to this...
Lurked for a little while, figured I should probably post here before I started asking questions elsewhere. I'm 23, and a structure and hydraulics mech. for aircraft. Despite what you may think, cars and trucks are a completely different animal to me.
My ranger, Ol' Paint, was "new to me" in August of '08. She's yet to leave me stranded, though the old girl has had a few minor problems due to things wearing out. She's an '84, with a 2.0L, 5 speed ford transmission (that's what the case says, not Mazda, though I know they're probably the same). 2wd, no power anything, no a/c, but she does boast a cassette player. The previous owner replaced the one piece rear window with one that had a sliding portion in the center that matched up with the cap, they also added a tach and a real oil pressure gauge to back up the "dummy" gauge in the dash (it sometimes stops working, though the aftermarket one never fails).
I'm one of those nuts who would love to replace the punny 2.0 with a small diesel, but I'm in no hurry.
1984 Ranger 2x4, 2.0L 5-Spd and at least 160,000 +/- 1-200k miles
I have a new rear window, added a tach and an oil pressure gauge. The rest is still stock.
