Default New in PA, but lurking for a while, usually too busy to post because fixing truck!

Hi there!
I'm a 45 year old female. I grew up on a farm, so learned early how to twist a wrench. I'm a western-Canadian ex-patriate, although my family was originally from Oklahoma and Nebraska.

I am the IT manager for a small company here in PA that does health care accounts receivables. I'm a certified computer geek (really). I'm always busy, usually with home improvements (pretty good electrician and plumber, not bad carpenter...), cooking, gardening, web design and, oh, yeah... fixing this truck.

I've owned this Ranger for 2 1/2 years. In that time, I've installed: new starter, rear spring shackles (had that done for me, too much of a mess), transmission (ditto), brakes, fuel pump (pulled off bed, too rusted underneath!), double-core rad, battery, coil, and a host of other small things. Currently have everything torn apart in the driveway AGAIN, removing waterpump right now.

This is my third Ranger / derivative. I had an '86, an '86 Mazda 4X4 and now this one. Remind me never to buy a salt-encrusted truck from central PA again, its been an experience!

The truck is a '96 Ranger XL 3.0 4X4.

It's got 6" of lift on it, step bars and a bull bar (done before I bought it - I'm good but not that good) . Since then, I've added rain guards (yeah I know, big deal), fog lights, and the ever-popular fuel-filler neck hose clamp mod (haven't had time to put the new parts on - but I will!), along with a nice little JVC HD head unit.

Planned modifications:
* new bumper (got tapped by a college student too busy texting to stop)
* building a replacement console armrest
* 600W power inverter
* I like the Explorer overhead console mod - that looks cool...
* maybe an aftermarket sunroof
and
*eventually I want to get rid of the blacked out wheels... anyone with chrome to trade??

I've been lurking here and a couple of other sites for years, and I've solved a lot of problems using the great information that you guys have provided, so thank you very much for all your help all along!

Keep posting, you don't know how many people you've assisted along the way...
