From Down South
South Florida that is. Just bought a Ranger as my first car. It's a 1990 single cab with the 2.3 4 cylender and 5 speed manual. Previous owner had added a lift kit and offroad tires and rims, as well as got a new, stiffer, clutch. Also dubbed it "Mini Mudders". He did mud it quite a bit, but he took good care of it. Interior was clean, barely any rust on the body (none at all under the truck), and it only has 59,000 miles.
I plan to take this to college with me, but I'm also going to be mudding it as well. Already did a few times, and it hadles pretty well. Probably going to change out the shocks for something a little better as it rides pretty rough, but besides that, everything is good. It may be a tad underpowered, but its pretty decent on gas for being a truck and insurance is cheap. I would say it's a great first car.

Re: From Down South
hes probably talking about the screen name i must admit its kinda random but random is always better then predictable in my opinion
you got any plans for what you are going to do to the truck?

It's just a nickname i used to have from a while back.
As for the truck, I'm going to college soon so right now money is kinda tight, but if I were to do anything, it would to maybe put some new shocks on (maybe rancho's since their cheap), and maybe longer springs up front so i get a bit more of a lift. I was also thinking of switching to 4.10's as the larger tires makes me have to run the gears out more before shifting if i want any kind of acceleration. Would also help having a little more power in 1st when offroading. I really have to ride the clutch to get it going.

Jeez, 70's? crazy. I've seen an old jeep on what looked like 50-60inch tires mudding up in Corbett, FL. Thing was so light he just floated through the deep mud-holes. The axles were stock though. Looked like the equivalent of someone mounting a doughnut on some toothpicks.
found a pic of it
