Default New to Forum but not Rangers

Hello all, my name is Jack T Shelby. I'am 61 years old, father of 5, and have owned my Dad's 87 Ranger since he passed in 1990. (yeah sucks) I'am an ASE Certified Master Truck Technician. And for the last 13 years I've been employed, as A Transportation Director, Bus Mechanic for my local school. My little Ranger is an 87 Long bed, with the FI 2.9, and a 5 speed and 400,000 miles. Cream White with the lower six inch Red stripe. and Red velour 40/60 split bench seat. It has been used like a truck! Lovingly cared for, but never Babied. It has hauled a 16ft car trailer, all over this country. With everything from 8500lbs of gravel, to just about every kind of car you can imagine, including a 1973 Pontiac Catalina. Yeah about a 6000lbs Land Yacht. Pulling things was never the problem. Stopping it was! Even with the bigger Bronco II brakes, they still weren't enough. LOL! Probably the best thing I can tell you about my little Ranger is what my buddy Mebb (a die hard Chevy Lover) said about her. Ain't no Damn S-10 ever done the things, I've seen that little Ranger do!

JTS

Welcome Jack. I've learned a lot from this forum. Donated once and got the stickers. Should do it more often. Built two 5.0 manual v8 rangers and am about to start an engine rebuild for my second one. Along with a lot of truck cleanup/improvements. Gonna try to make a cool thread on here for it.

Jack, welcome to FRF. I like your screen name. Do you have a 71 Mach-1?.

Did have once upon a time, a 71 Mach1 with a 500hp 351 Cleveland, but that was back when the kids were little. and they would fit in the back seat. That soon changed and the need for a 500HP. "Family Car", it didn't quite fit the bill. So I traded it for a 67 Ranchero cause I needed a truck to move. Well the Ranchero was kinda like a truck. But I never had a Mini Van!
