Default Bio's Red Ranger

Hello all, I'm the original owner of a 2006 Ranger FX4 and I joined to get some ideas on after-market. I was shopping new trucks and planned to trade in my Ranger.

I took it to a mechanic and had him check it bumper to bumper in case I decided to try selling it myself since dealers don't want to give you much for it. The mechanic reported, "I can't find a dam thing wrong with it."

So I figured why take on monthly payments, don't fix something that isn't broke, and it has only 57K miles.

So I decided to reward my little red truck with some cosmetics and newer technology. Starting with replacing the factory audio head unit with a Kenwood video unit and back up camera. I also added an Undercover brand tonneau one piece hard cover.

Since this truck has saved me thousands in monthly payments, I plan to do more projects. Next is the step bars. The factory bars are rusted here and there. They're still pretty solid, but they just look bad. 13 years, I figure I got money's worth, so time for new ones.

Included in my to do list is replacing the factory speakers with quality after market speakers, get the side windows tinted a little darker, add quality custom fit seat covers since the driver's side looks pretty bad, cold air intake, flowmaster delta flows, and maybe a bull bar.

Undecided on wheels. The factory mags still look pretty good, but sure been seeing a lot of beefier wheel and tire packages I really like.

That how-tos link is broken.

Anyway, here's the Kenwood video head unit. I don't know if it's my imagination, but the Kenwood unit manage to make the factory speakers sound a little better. Though at times they still have that drive-in theater speaker box sound, so after-market speakers is next on the list.

Good choice on keeping the truck and it's awesome that you took such good care of it. Start a build thread if you want and post progress, I would subscribe. Welcome

Thank you, ford4thot. That's a good idea, I just may create a build thread to post progress. I snooped around the forums, and didn't see any sub forum designated build thread/progress. Are you referring to the pictures, media sub forum?

Project log under Ford Ranger technical sub forums. Also I corrected my grammar in my previous post. That* not but.

P.S. I started one there as well. Over 3 years ago. My poor truck has stood on jack stands for 3 years but I'm working on it again right now

Thanks for welcome, Mike. I'm here to tap into after-market ideas from fellow members. And speaking of.....I really like your cab cap, I don't know what that's called - truck eyebrow? Did you get that locally or order it online?

I have always called them cab visors. I purchased it used from a member on the forum, it is made by Lund. Here is a link to Summit Racing that is selling a lighted one & a non-lighted one.
