Been lurking for a little while, figured I’d do my intro post. I picked-up this ‘01 Ranger 4x4 to use as a regular household hauler and winter commuter (to keep my Mustang GT/CS convertible out of the snow). But it’s been so-much more than that. I’ve kinda caught the Ranger-bug. The truck is a 4.0 SOHC, 4x4 with 200k miles. I’m technically not the second owner, but close. An old man bought it. When he passed-away, his son-in-law used it to start a landscape business. Between them, it was REALLY well-cared for. The driver’s bench had seen better days, so I swapped in a set of new-edge ‘stang buckets and a Tuffy center console from a Jeep YJ.

I need to do some more research on this truck. It appears to be an Edge, with painted bumpers and vinyl flooring. Everything works, and is in awesome shape for the mileage. No rust. The SOHC is a bit sluggish, but doesn’t burn any oil. I’ve been fixing vacuum leaks, which has smoothed it out. It doesn’t seem to rattle/tick, but I don’t know the history of this truck as far as maintenance. So it probably needs timing chains. Future plans are to either rebuild the SOHC or swap in a 5.0 this spring. Debating pros and cons. The truck is too nice not to do something.

As for me: I’ve spent many hours under vehicles and inside engine compartments. I used to be a Jeeper, having vast off-road experience from guiding trails at Jeep Jamborees to judging rock crawl competitions. I’m a data center engineer by trade, though at this point in life I sit in front of a computer more-so than actually getting my hands dirty.

I’m on this forum to learn more about my truck. So far you all have shown me some awesome trucks! I look forward to reading more.
