Default New to Ranger in NC

Hello,

I'm a computer professional in Hickory, NC and I just bought a 2011 Ranger with the 2.3L engine. Those things are REALLY hard to find around here. I got an okay deal but, not a great deal. I've owned and worked on the Saturn S series for years but, they are getting hard to get and I wanted a small truck. I hope to learn a lot from you folks.

I've already determined that this engine has a timing chain...phew!!! I've seen some guides on adding cruise control but, I'm not sure they were for this model. I'd like to do that, if possible. Any salvage yards people like to do business with? Good places to get dealer parts? Any common problems with this engine I should be aware of? The Saturns were good cars but, they did have their quirks. Most cars do.

I'm looking forward to interacting with the folks on here.

2.3L Duratec is pretty bullet proof. Early models had tumble flap problems, but those were never installed on the Ranger 2.3's. Only other thing to keep an eye on is the PCV valve hose can crack after a few years and cause a vacuum leak. Keep up with maintenance and you'll have a reliable hauler.
