Question New to Ranger

Just bought a 2003 with 3.0 Flex fuel.
Trying to figure some stuff out here. First repair was to replace the blower motor resistor due to fan only working on high. This forum helped me with that.
Canít figure the key situation though. The key will not open the driver door. If I use the button remote it unlocks. Then I can stick the key in the door and it will lock and unlock the door easily. Take the key out and stick it back in, then it will not turn either way to operate the lock.
Is this by design or is something screwy?

If I insert the key in the passenger door it will unlock.

Put same key in the driver door the key wonít turn.

If I unlock the door with the fob, then stick the key in drivers door, the key turns the lock and will both lock and unlock.

As above this is my first Ranger, so not sure if this is weird or normal. Seems weird to me.

Also need to get a second key made. Only one key from previous owner. Ford says $30 for key, plus $80 to program. Add $65 for another fob.
