Default This is Sweet!

First, Thank you for this forum and everyone here!

Now, introducing... Me...
My name is Ken, I live in central NC. I just recently purchased my 2nd Ranger. Oh how I missed my first one. That was a brand new 1990, power nothing, 2x55 A/C, AM radio w/ single speaker, 5 speed with a vinyl bench seat. But, I could go anywhere with that thing as hard as it was to drive. I even taught my wife how to drive a stick with it.

FF 27 years... I just recently purchased a 2003 Edge, 4.0, 4x4, w/ 58k miles (not well maintained ). As heavy a beast as she is! I LOVE it! Now to get the CD changer to work...

Slapped some new sneakers on, alternator, water pump, idler and tensioner pulleys, and belt for starters. I have some slow oils leaks (wet, no drips yet... thinking front and rear mains). Got a little irregular shimmy in the steering wheel @ 70+ (thinking U/L ball joints, possibly tie rod ends).

This is my DD and I've been stalking around this forum for a few months now looking for ideas including, but, not limited to a super charger... not for anything other than to move that 2.25 tons a little quicker. Also, thinking about getting a donor engine and tranny to rebuild with good parts and make it stronger w/ more HP & torque.

You won't get that CD Changer to work if it's the factory 6-disc. They're known for going bad. Mine went bad back in 2012 and I had to take it apart to recover my CD's. Then, a few weeks after I put it back together and reinstalled it, it just randomly started to shut off for no reason. I replaced it with an aftermarket head unit and never looked back.

Thanks Fordzilla80 for the heads up with the stock unit. I didn't dig too deep in the forum yet about the radio. My future plan is to put a system in with some umph.

I'm amazed one lasted until 2012. I had to butcher mine to get the CD's out

I attribute that to the low mileage of the truck when I bought it. CD player was probably barely used. lol.

Ken, welcome to FRF. Nice looking Ranger. I have the single AM/FM, CD, Cassette radio in my 2000 Ranger & it still works great.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and compliments. And, YES! I agree she's a nice ride. I eye'd her for awhile and when they dropped the price to a final low, I couldn't resist any longer.

I'm all about sleeper mode, especially on the outside; she looks great as-is. I am planning some power upgrades and fixes here and there. My neighbor was already hounding me to install a 3" or 4" lift. #1: not without more power, #2: not without a step ladder for my wife. #3 I do a lot of highway driving - already put 8k miles on since I got her. But, I do jump on the occasional trail.

I look forward to continue mulling around the forum (stupid photobucket) and contributing where I can.
