Default Ranger nube

Greetings, I just picked up a 1989 Ranger 4x4 ExCab 2.9L that's dead stock, mostly straight, complete and no rust. I'm looking forward to getting back into some light offroad adventuring. We've owned two 4Runners, '85 and '89, and had other Toyotas (pickups and Camry) for decades, VW bugs and a van, and several motorcycles.

Also Fords!
My first was a '50 F2 pickup. Also a '67 F100 ex-CalTrans, ex-CalPoly State University painter's short bed stepside pickup (regret selling that rare one, but it was terribly beat up!). Currently own a '01 F150 4.2L V6 long bed pickup, and a '03 Focus ZX3, so looking forward to a smaller pickup, and something I can trust offroad.

The Ranger seems to be put together a little beefier than the Toyotas, but time will tell. I'm enjoying this early phase, learning, and generating the to-do list(s).

I do most of the wrenching as far as maintenance, troubleshooting & parts replacements on our older vehicles. We live in Central CA, near the coast, so weather allows a lot of outdoors tinkering.

Many thanks, Don! I've already dug into the tech pages—very well organized and succinct. Gives me some degree of confidence!
