Exclamation 2005 3.0L 5spd - fuel pump gremlin

Hello!

I've been searching this forum and the internet for an answer to this question:

Why would my fuel pump run with the fuel pump relay removed and the large terminals jumped but it won't run if I swap out for a new relay?

Inertia switch is good.

New relays test good (Old one tested good as well) They work in the wiper wash pump relay.

Bad ground? Help please....

Unhappy Re: 2005 3.0L 5spd - fuel pump gremlin

Well I've figured out it's because the ECU isn't grounding the actuator side of the relay....as to why the ECU isn't making the connection is another question. The wire between the relay and ECU is not broken. No DTCs.....this is going to be fun. I'm hesitant to say the ECU has gone bad. I hope, for my wallets sake, that it hasn't.

It might be a long shot but , unhook the battery and hold the ignition key in the start position for about 10 secs, hook the battery back up and try to start it. If you have any sort of security systems, they could be the culprit as well.

Thanks for the suggestion, Grumpa. However, it did not work. I jumped the relay and let it run until the engine warmed up hoping for a DTC or symptom to show so I had a direction to move in, but no luck. I'll keep searching for a few more days...
