New 03 Ranger for me!
Well I really am posting this to make the notification go away. I just got a used 03 Ranger XT w the 3.0 engine. 192k miles. It's been mostly taken care of other than a short time the previous owner loaned it to his brother who didn't respect anyone or anything. Was giving p0171 and p0174 codes and he took it to a Ford dealer who wanted to do $2000 worth of repairs to make it right. I got it from him for a great price and did a few repairs myself and saved a lot. Pcv valve boot and grommet were shot. The elbow hose had a dime sized hole eaten in it and was repaired with electrical tape! Leaking oil doesn't do well with that tape so vacuum leaks all over. Also had to replace the shifter handle cause it was shorting out causing that fuse #2 in the driver door fuse box to blow. Also had the overdrive button missing so just replaced the assembly for $60 new from Ford. Did the seafoam treatment, sealed up the faulty vacuum lines with new pieces. Spent all in all about $200 and have a nice running truck! Soon will need tires and the tailpipe hanger broke its weld so bandaged that up. This forum and another sister forum have been VALUABLE repositories of information. I have a background in aviation maintenance so am not afraid to grab a wrench. Thank you all for keeping this amazing resource available to fellow ranger owners.
