Default owner of used ranger '11

Hello guys, glad to have discovered this fourm. It will be a good resource for when I encounter issues and for general knowledge and maintenance tips.

Just purchased a used '11 ranger. I'm not happy about my terms of financing, but that can be dealt with in the future and besides, i got a new to me vehicle.

I should be excited right? Well i am and not. During test drive first thing that I noticed was no heat blowing out the vents. Ice cold air. Defrost worked fine. Didn't notice any scent of coolant.

So when I had the opportunity, I checked the padding underneath passenger floorboard. The pad was damp and there was a little standing water. Immediately suspect heater core issues.

Told the salesman about it, he had his mechanic check. He pulled the flooring back a little and said it was fine. Well I decided to pull the flooring back further and showed the mechanic that it was indeed wet. They proceed to explain that the reason it was wet was because it had been pressure washed.

So I am here to get advice and opinions on how best to resolve this situation. I plan on keeping the vehicle so I want to stay on top of every problem before it becomes a major issue.

I have a two year bumper to bumper warranty.

Specs will come later. Hope to make some friends and get sound advice.

Thanks, 39 year old carpet cleaner focusing on getting his priorities straight and celebrating recovery.

Welcome, Glad you found us. Have fun and enjoy FRF. There are threads on here on how to do a check list. First check heater hoses going to fire wall. if one is hot and one is not= clogged heater core. Take off hoses and back flush core. If both hot= blend door not working check cables or vac lines. Damp on floor hope its just condensation fron air or clogged drain hole. Thats the items I would start with.
