Default Check Engine Light

I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0 6 cylinder extended cab auto trans has a piston clap and check engine light runs rough and stumbles when engine is cold but once engine warms up it runs perfectly fine any ideas on what the problem may be is it possible time to rebuild the heads truck has 149K on it thanks

You'll need to post in appropriate section then, not everyone reads the introduction section.

you also need to provide more info such as the code that the check engine light is reading.
