Default New from Indiana

I'm looking at a 99 2.5 L manual.
I went to take it for a drive, it's at my local GM dealership.
Engine sounds good, but after a few minutes the temp gauge pegged.
I drove it around to the service dept to have someone take a look to see if they could check the ECT with a scanner. Couldn't connect.
Top rad hose was cold, while the heater hose was hot.
I'm going to assume at this point the thermostat was stuck closed.
I would guess a new thermostat, water pump and a timing belt would be called for. 171k miles.
The asking price at the dealership was $1700. Body looked good, but the RF fender and hood were replaced at one time.

My DD is a 2011 Fiesta with 108k on it.
My toy is a 2008 G8 with a forged and stroked LS3 with a small Garrett turbo.

Should I go for the truck?

Ray

I went and made a decision to buy the truck.
I have a '99 donor truck to pull parts from. Thanks to all the people who came before me. There is a ton of info here to get me through all the maintenance.
