Thumbs down Horn relay is where?

Hi all
I'm new to the forum, not sure how to post a question, hope you'll steer me in the correct direction.
I just bought a 2001 2.3l 5spd rwd former fleet vehicle. Stripper, crank windows, no cdl and broken a/c.
The information I'm hoping for is HORN RELAY LOCATION. I don't find it in the engine compartment fuse box, owners manual and Haynes manual are of no help.
Thanks

My owners manual (for the 98) has it listed under "Roadside Emergencies" and says its relay 7.

The interior fuse panel is located on the left side of the driver's side of the dash. You will see the small cover when you open the driver's door. You'll find what you are looking for in there.

RTFM, fuse 35 in passenger compartment fuse box is powered and intact, power present at horn connector, blue wire. There is no relay 7, and no relay labeled for horn in "roadside emergencies" page 166.

a) The relay is not in the CJB on the left (ie, drivers) side of the dash.
b) The relay is not in the BJB under the hood.

c) The horn relay IS located in auxiliary relay box #1, in the dash. In an Explorer of similar vintage, this box is near the top of the gas pedal assembly. Ranger should be just about the same. Size of box is approx 2" x 2" x 5" and there *should* be a removable lid on it. Color of box and lid are normally black.

Thank you cowboy, the box is there, that bottom right corner is empty, control circuit power but no ground when I push the bag, that circuit is intact to the bottom of the column(blue/yellow wire) though. I'll get to it tomorrow. Thanks again.

NP, you're welcome.

I have to wonder if your relay is missing, perhaps because the PO had a problem with it (stuck on) and yanked and tossed it. The schematics for your model year and engine show that relay as being part of the horn circuit.

*Schematics (free) on bbbind.com or autozone.com

Image below from autozone repair guides and is more clear on their webpage.

So, the 01 is significantly different from the 98. My apologies if I wasted your time. I learned something though.

Ya, I figured it had something to do with some missed step like reading the WSM. My fortunate experience has provided me with a wealth of information when I read the manual. Not so lucky with these books.
Problem found, ground control wire at relay was loose, in addition to no relay installed. Pulled the relay block down to access the back side, secured the terminal in the block, new(road tested) relay and "lo" horn, all working now.
Thanks all.
