Default New-to-me 2001 Ranger 2wd 4cyl

Just acquired a 2001 Ford Ranger 2wd 5 speed with 72,000 miles. Looks and runs like new.

This is my business truck - manufacture and sales of Mercedes-Benz parts.

My other job is National Technical Director for Mercedes-Benz Club of America. (join at www.mbca.org)

If interested, check out www.perfanalysis.com.

I do all my own maintenance. Since there were sketchy maintenance records, I did all fluid changes - oil and filter, coolant, brake fluid, PS fluid. Planning on oil changes of transmission and differential. Found truck had new front brake pads and rotors . Plan on pulling rear drums to check rear brakes.

Engine had brown muddy-looking coolant - pH was very high (not good for aluminum parts). It took three flushes to get all the brown crud from system - probably never changed . . .
