Default Hard Start, Extended Crank Time

Hello, I joined the forums awhile ago but this is my first post. I have a few questions maybe some one may be able to shed some light on.

First, it used to be turn the key and my Ranger would start right up. for a while now, it will crank and crank before starting. I find if I cycle the key two to three times (the fuel pump runs for about as long as the ABS lamp stays on) it will start much easier. My take is, there is a problem with a check-valve somewhere in the fuel system. Someone else has said it is a vacuum issue. Any thoughts folks?

(I also have a '96 Taurus GL with the 3.0 V6, at about 39k miles as of today, cranks almost as long as the Ranger)

Also, while we're at it, lately on the Ranger the ABS kicks on almost all the time when I reach about 10 mph when slowing to a stop but no ABS light. Bad wheel sensor?

Happy Saturday everyone, and Thanks!
Rick
