Default New member, old truck, old parts, new noises...

My name is Richard and I need some help. I have a 95 Ranger 4.0 V6 with 305K miles. Many, many, many parts are original - the engine, trans, shocks, suspension, wiring, etc. I just had my plugs and wire changed for the first time I think ever. (Yes, i know 19 years is a long run for those). After having them replaced, I drove away from the shop and my truck was making a new noise. I had already replaced the EGR sensor as well as the Idle Motor because I was having issues with the idling. It was also stuttering when I would get into the 50/55 mph range before it could stop "coughing" and get going at the next speed. It's better now with the new sensor and motor, but with the new plugs I have a newer issue that I need help with.

My truck still shakes when it's in park after starting but doesn't have the idling issues anymore. The new problem is that once it gets put into reverse or drive, it starts making a spark sound and I can smell smoke. I know that where there's smoke, there's fire so I got home, turned it off, and got on here. I don't know what this issue is, but surely it's a misfiring something somewhere. The sound is coming not from the front (i.e. - the engine/hood area), it's coming from underneath me and the body. I don't know if this is transmission related or something totally different. I'm the only owner of this truck so I know that many, many, many parts are still original. If I need to post a video, I'll try to to help explain it better. Any suggestions on possible issues would be great. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Sounds to me as if you've got a hot wire touching metal, and it's arcing underneath the cab? Have you crawled underneath (when OFF) to look for burnt wires (melted insulation)? Maybe your trans linkage is moving the wire or touching it?
