hello!
I have a 2000 Ranger 4 x 4 with a 5 speed manual transmission. This is my second Ranger, the first was a 1987 4 x4 also. I am concerned over the future of the Ranger of course, but I am also wondering about the Rangers replacement. I have two questions. What happened to the F 100 as a replacement? I would be willing to move up to a mid sized truck, but I do not want or need a full sized truck. Secondly, what is the future of manual transmissions? I do not want an automatic! Are sticks shifts going the way of the dinosaur?

That was only people guessing so they would get attention, Ford never said anything even remotely close to that. Who knows though... something like that could still happen.

I don't think there is any reason to worry about the manual transmission going away.

I have been driving sticks shifts since 1986. I am concerned when I see new Ford vehicles coming out without the manual transmission option. I may have to keep my 2000 Ranger, because I am NOT going to buy an automatic!

Re: hello!
Welcome and when you get to my age you WILL buy an automatic (knees can't take the clutch!).

All models come with manual and auto, but what i was told is older clients usually pick more options and auto, so available manual models well equipped are rare... like mine, i had to special order it from the factory...
