Red face Swap

Hi,
I have had a ford in my family for at least 20 years. I am very old school, I like the boxy type ranger. Currently my son and I have n 84 ranger 4x4 project. the floor boards are rusted pretty bad, so we have decided to replace the entire cab. My question is what years should fit? I think from 83 thru 88. Any help is appreciated. Also looking at a 97 with the 4.0 engine, I was told they aren't very reliable, anybody have any advice. BTW, the 4.0 has about 225K miles on it, with auto transmission.

Thanks in advance.

any cab from 83-92 will work...4.0 is a solid motor but i would slap a 302 in there
