Default Compass Calibration Help

I installed one of the Auto Dimming Mirrors with the compass and map lights as well as an overhead console with map lights compass and temp.

The OHC works just fine, got the compass calibrated (Google is awesome). Got the mirror all installed and wired up but cannot seem to get the compass calibrated on the mirror.

Google says there is a little hole to stick a paperclip in. For the life of me i cannot find that. I have taken the mirror off and looked at all angles.

Anyone have any idea?
Thanks,

Looked around a little on the Internet. Maybe this will be useful.

If not, we might need a brand name and model to help.

Unfortunately that did not help. The instructions were for a Chevrolet Mirror, where as mine i was told was out of an explorer.

Thank you for looking!

I've had a couple OEM compasses that required you to drive around in circles for a bit after setting it to "calibrate" mode. Not sure how you'd do that on yours.

Probably best not to do it in heavy traffic ... <G>

a friend of mine came over last night and i was showing him the mirror and OHC and he said he thinks the mirror is a chevy mirror. He seems to remember the same mirror in his 2500 silverado.

This is correct, there should be a small recessed hole with a button that you use a paper clip to hold down until "CAL" comes up. Depending on where you are located, you would set it to a certain value (e.x. 1-20), and drive in circles at 2mph until it would finish calibrating. Make sure you are away from power lines and large steel building/structures, or else it won't calibrate correctly.

I found the map:

Go to a big open parking lot and prepare yourself to get sick. I hate calibrating compasses

I found the map:

i had no issues calabrating the OHC compass with this method, its just that the mirror has no hole on the bottom to do this...

Did you try holding the on off button on the mirror till it does something?

Also I know this might sound dumb but why 2 compasses? I put an auto dim in my truck. And I love it.
