I don't know but I would assume you just take the tracks off the '89 and problem solved

I put 1998 ranger seats into my 89 it was not a direct swap. We drilled out the tracks from the 98 seats and welded on the tracks from 89

You should be able to install the newer seats with a little fabrication. See how I installed my seats at: Replaced Seats on 1987 Ranger
